The first one is the great man theory. This particular theory simply states leadership is a hereditary and in-born talent that one is either born with or born without, and nature remains dominant compared to nurture. Next on the list is the trait theory, in which the reason why certain individuals make great leaders lies in very specific traits that veers more towards both behavior and personality. The contingency theory on the other hand differs from the previous two leadership theories and could perhaps be the antithesis to the great man theory, where it veers more on the environment and how the individual is nurtured through certain situations while the behavioral leadership theories concept revolves more on how leaders are naturally born and how they function through intuition rather than experience.

Another kind of leadership theories worth noting is the participative belief where the leader aims to include all of his followers in the decision making process. Typically, the person will listen to his subordinates’ input before determining the right course of action. The management theory on the other hand seeks a route of equality where everyone can be accountable and even responsible for his or her actions within the company and in turn, be rewarded and punished accordingly. Last but not least is the leadership theories is the relationship theory where the leader tends to genuinely be concerned about the well-being of his or her employees and focuses more on the individual and personal growth.
